For many families, homeownership represents more than a place to live—it is an opportunity to build stability, create generational wealth, and invest in the future. Yet for many prospective homebuyers, the process can feel overwhelming. Questions about credit, down payment assistance, mortgage options, and affordability often prevent people from taking the first step.
The good news is that you don’t have to navigate the journey alone.
On Saturday, June 27, community members are invited to attend the Housing Resource Lender Clinic, a free event designed to connect aspiring homeowners with the information, resources, and professionals they need to make informed decisions about buying a home. Whether you’re preparing to purchase your first home, returning to the market after several years, or simply exploring your options, this clinic offers an opportunity to receive personalized guidance in a supportive environment.
One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home is that you need to have everything figured out before speaking with a lender. In reality, conversations with housing professionals can help identify available resources, explain financing options, and provide a clearer understanding of what steps to take next. Even if you’re not ready to purchase today, learning about the process now can help you prepare for the future.
During the clinic, attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with lenders, learn about down payment and closing cost assistance programs, explore housing resources—including home repair and heirs’ property programs—and receive a FREE soft credit report to better understand their financial readiness. Because the credit report is a soft inquiry, checking your information will not impact your credit score.
To make the most of your appointment, participants are encouraged to bring their last two pay stubs, last two years of tax returns, a 2025 W-2, two recent bank statements, and a valid photo ID. Having these documents available allows housing professionals to provide more meaningful guidance based on your individual circumstances.
