Money Matters: Teen Edition Empowers Cleveland Youth With Real Financial Skills

Financial literacy is one of the most important life skills young people can learn—and one of the least talked about in many classrooms. That’s why the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Greater Cleveland Chapter is proud to present Money Matters: Teen Edition, a dynamic program created to help local teens build confidence with money before adulthood begins.

Taking place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch Library, this free session is designed for high school students ages 14–18 who are ready to learn practical strategies for financial success.

Why This Program Matters

Too many young adults graduate knowing algebra but not understanding credit scores, savings accounts, budgeting, or how to avoid debt. Money Matters: Teen Edition helps close that gap by giving teens tools they can actually use in real life.

Participants can expect conversations around:

  • Budgeting basics
  • Smart saving habits
  • Understanding credit
  • Entrepreneurship mindset
  • Financial decision-making
  • Building wealth early

This isn’t a lecture full of jargon. It’s a real-world conversation that meets teens where they are.

Meet the Presenter: AShira Nelson, CPA

Leading the session is AShira Nelson, CPA, founder of Savvy Girl Money and a respected financial professional dedicated to helping individuals and families gain control of their finances.

With expertise in tax strategy, wealth management, and financial education, AShira brings both knowledge and relatability to the room. She understands that confidence with money starts with understanding it.

Investing in the Next Generation

Programs like this reflect the ongoing mission of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.—to uplift communities through education, empowerment, and opportunity.

When teens understand money early, they are better prepared to make wise decisions later. That means stronger futures, stronger families, and stronger communities.
