On March 15, 2025, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter (NCBW-GCC), through its Economic Empowerment Committee, hosted the third session of its four-part PNC Homeownership Series for First-Time Buyers at the PNC Fairfax Connection.

This session, titled Shopping for a Home, was led by Astrid Ortega of PNC Bank, Edwin Rodriguez of Maya Technology LLC Home Inspection, and Deborah Bonner of PNC Real Estate. The presenters guided attendees through the essential steps of the home-shopping process — from choosing the right realtor to understanding what to expect during home inspections and walkthroughs.

Participants gained valuable insights into assessing affordability, identifying red flags during inspections, and making informed decisions that align with both short- and long-term financial goals. With nine participants in attendance, the session provided an interactive environment for questions, discussions, and real-world examples that demystified the homebuying experience.

By completing this session, attendees advanced to the third stage of the HUD Homeownership Training Program — one step closer to their goal of homeownership. Programs like this reaffirm NCBW-GCC’s ongoing mission to empower families through financial education, community partnerships, and pathways to economic advancement.
