On September 11, 2024, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter (NCBW-GCC) and the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Cuyahoga County Section (NCNW-CCS) joined forces with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Family and Community Engagement Office to support voter registration and education during CMSD’s districtwide Open House for high school families.
Representing NCBW were Public Policy Member Monique Wingard and Education Chair Loretta Gray, who partnered with NCNW leaders to engage students, parents, and community members in meaningful dialogue about the importance of civic participation. Both organizations provided nonpartisan information on voter eligibility, early voting, and absentee ballot applications—ensuring families were equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to be #VoteReady ahead of the October 7 registration deadline.
This collaboration was part of CMSD’s broader Get Out the Vote campaign, an initiative that brought together multiple community organizations including NCBW, NCNW, the NAACP Cleveland Branch, 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, SCLC, and others. The campaign focused on increasing voter awareness and participation across Cleveland through events such as Mayor Bibb’s Back to School Fest, Music Through the Streets, Battle of the Bands, and Annual Fathers Walk.
Through initiatives like this, NCBW and NCNW continue their shared commitment to mobilize, organize, and educate—empowering communities to take part in shaping a more equitable and representative democracy.
