On October 30, 2024, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter’s Education Committee hosted “Project 2025: A Threat to Human Rights” — a timely and critical discussion examining the far-reaching implications of Project 2025’s proposed education policies. Presenter Meryl Johnson, M.Ed., provided a detailed breakdown of how the initiative seeks to dismantle decades of progress in civil rights, women’s rights, and equitable access to education.

The conversation shed light on how these proposed rollbacks would disproportionately harm Black students and low-income families, increasing barriers to higher education and eroding vital federal protections. The program, moderated by Education Committee Chair Loretta Gray and supported by Chapter President Dionne Jones, drew over 1,300 online views and sparked important dialogue across platforms.

This event reinforced NCBW-GCC’s continued advocacy for educational equity, social justice, and the protection of human rights — ensuring our communities remain informed, empowered, and ready to act.
