On February 15, 2025, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter (NCBW-GCC) hosted Part 2 of its Homeownership Series for First-Time Buyers at the PNC Fairfax Connection.
Presented by the Economic Empowerment Committee in partnership with PNC Bank and NID Housing Counseling Agency, this session focused on navigating the mortgage process — from pre-approval to final approval. Participants gained a clear understanding of how to obtain a mortgage loan, evaluate different financing options, and prepare the documentation needed for a successful application.
PNC Bank presenters David Zhou and Astrid Ortega, Loan Officers in Affordable Lending and Emerging Markets, led an interactive discussion covering interest rates, lending qualifications, and strategies to ensure long-term financial readiness. With ten participants in attendance, the session also highlighted how access to financial education supports greater economic mobility and stability in historically underserved communities.
By completing this session, attendees advanced to the second milestone of the four-part series, bringing them one step closer to earning their HUD Homeownership Training Certificate. Programs like this reinforce NCBW-GCC’s commitment to empowering families through financial literacy, informed decision-making, and sustainable wealth-building.
