On January 18, 2025, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter (NCBW-GCC) launched its Homeownership Series for First-Time Buyers at the PNC Fairfax Connection — the first in a four-part educational initiative designed to help aspiring homeowners gain the financial knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals.

Hosted by the Economic Empowerment Committee in partnership with PNC Bank and NID Housing Counseling Agency, this Financial Literacy session focused on budgeting, debt reduction, establishing emergency savings, and developing effective money management strategies. Attendees also learned how these foundational skills connect to long-term financial readiness and successful homeownership.

PNC Bank presenters Astrid Ortega and David Zhou, Loan Officers in Affordable Lending and Emerging Markets, shared expert insights to guide participants through the first steps of the homebuying process. By completing this session, attendees earned credit toward a HUD Homeownership Training Certificate — an important milestone on their path to owning a home.

More than a financial workshop, the event reinforced NCBW-GCC’s ongoing commitment to economic empowerment, helping families build stability, create generational wealth, and strengthen the economic foundation of the Greater Cleveland community.
