On October 16, 2024, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Cleveland Chapter (NCBW-GCC) hosted a timely virtual discussion, Defending Democracy, to unpack the potential impact of Project 2025 and explore how misinformation continues to shape public understanding of the 2024 General Election.
Guest experts Scholar Theorose Dzienku and Elyce Aldridge of Innovation Ohio guided participants through a dynamic and insightful conversation on civic awareness, media literacy, and the urgent need to separate fact from falsehood in an era of digital misinformation.
The discussion highlighted how Project 2025, a sweeping conservative policy blueprint, could reshape federal governance and influence policies that directly affect local communities. Attendees were encouraged to think critically about media narratives, question sources, and strengthen their own information habits to stay accurately informed.
Participants also received practical strategies to identify credible information, verify claims before sharing, and use trusted platforms for election updates — reinforcing the importance of becoming #VoterReady before heading to the polls.
Through programs like Defending Democracy, NCBW-GCC continues its commitment to civic education, advocacy, and empowering communities with the tools needed to participate meaningfully in the democratic process.
