The event took place at DCB Spaces in Beachwood, Ohio.
Laura C. Cowan, an award-winning speaker, educator, and activist, shared her powerful story of survival and resilience as a domestic violence survivor. Her life and advocacy are now portrayed in the Lifetime feature film, Girl in the Garage: The Laura Cowan Story — a compelling retelling of her journey from captivity to courage.
During the event, Ms. Cowan spoke candidly about her experiences and the ongoing fight to end domestic violence and child abuse. She also reflected on her work as a national advocate, traveling the country to educate, empower, and uplift survivors through keynote addresses, workshops, and panel discussions.
Her story serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of perseverance. Through sharing her truth, Laura Cowan continues to shed light on the importance of awareness, justice, and healing for women and families affected by abuse.
This conversation reminded all in attendance that resilience is not just survival — it’s choosing to rise and rebuild with purpose.
