
NC100BW Greater Cleveland Chapter Hosts Women of Vision Scholarship Reception
Beachwood, Ohio —- The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NC100BW) Greater Cleveland Chapter hosted its 28th Women of Vision Scholarship Reception on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the at the Doubletree by Hilton in Beachwood, OH. The event honored humanitarian, philanthropist, author, evangelist and speaker Dr. Yvonne Pointer for her professional and civic achievements.
The afternoon salute to Dr. Pointer included and an intimate conversation about her work as an international advocate for women and children with renowned journalist Eleanor Hayes; a cocktail reception; dancing with music provided by Lo-Key DJ; vendors; and a silent auction. The event also included the presentation of organization’s 2019 scholarships awarded to outstanding college bound seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and service to the Greater Cleveland community. This year scholarships were awarded to Rhatia Hopkins from Willoughby South High School; Naomi Jackson from Berea-Midpark High School; Jenesis Rankins from Nordonia High School; and Amari Sledge from Maple Heights High School. Additionally, Chantal Brown from Shaw High School was the first recipient of the Raymon Pointer Scholarship presented at the reception by the family of Dr. Yvonne Pointer. At the request of Dr. Pointer, NC100BW Greater Cleveland Chapter presented a donation to the Gloria Pointer Teen Movement in Ghana, West Africa in place of her award. All proceeds from the reception will support the organization’s 2019 scholarship fund and advocacy programs.
