
National Coalition of 100 Black Women Greater Cleveland Chapter Hosts 23rd Annual Woman of Vision Luncheon
Mayfield Heights, Ohio — The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NC100BW) Greater Cleveland Chapter held its 23rd annual Woman of Vision luncheon on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven, in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. The event honored three distinguished women for their professional and civic achievements: Alexandria Johnson Boone, Founder and Chairwoman, The Women of Color Foundation and President/CEO, GAP Communications Group; The Honorable Pinkey Carr, Judge, Cleveland Municipal Court, and Debra Adams Simmons, Editor, Plain Dealer Publishing.
During the event NC1000BW Greater Cleveland Chapter also announced the 2014 scholarship recipients. Five young women were selected from Northeast Ohio high schools for their commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.
The gathering of over 400 attendees enjoyed a lovely afternoon complete with a reception; invocation and benediction by Reverend Leah C.K. Lewis; auction; a special recognition presented to Reverend Hilton O. Smith in honor of his late wife, Delores (Dee) Smith, who was a dedicated and long time NC100BW member; and music provided by The David Thomas Band featuring Evelyn Wright. Deborah A. Hill, former Warrensville Heights City Councilwoman served as the 2014 luncheon chairperson and Elizabeth A. Jones is the organization’s president. All proceeds from the luncheon will support the 2015 scholarships fund.
